How to play

You're a raccoon on the night shift for the Trash King, a god who lives in a dumpster and eats anything. Every night your crew crawls out of a storm drain, sneaks through the dog flap of a dark house and steals whatever isn't nailed down. Drop the loot down the drain by the curb and it goes to the King. Feed him the quota by bin day (every third night) or he eats the crew.

Things in the dark

• The Homeowner sleeps until noise wakes him: running, dropping things, breaking things, the Roomba's alarm. Awake, he hunts by sound and sees anything that moves in his torch beam — freeze and he may walk past. He also notices headlamps pointed at him. He can't see under beds and tables, and he won't go outside in his slippers.
• The Cat perches on furniture. Don't stare at it. It hisses first: look away.
• The Roomba bumps into raccoons and sounds an alarm, and it slurps up small loot. Kick it over (E) to get the loot back.
• The Mannequin only moves when nobody is looking at it.

Tips

• Loot loses value when it hits things. Carry gently; throw only the unbreakable stuff.
• Heavy loot (tuba, TV, mini fridge) is slow to drag alone. Two raccoons carry it much faster.
• Be back at the drain by 5 AM. Anyone left behind at dawn is caught. If the whole crew is caught, the night's haul washes away.
• Spend Shinies in the alley on upgrades. Whatever you feed the King over the quota, he spits back as Shinies.
